Glass Bead Blasting on Copper Support

Introduction

The images below are of material made up of copper. This material is named as Support. Copper is a chemical element. It is a soft, malleable, and ductile metal with very high thermal and electrical conductivity. A freshly exposed surface of pure copper has a reddish-orange color. Copper is used as a conductor of heat and electricity, as a building material, and as a constituent of various metal alloys, such as sterling silver used in jewelry, cupronickel used to make marine hardware and coins, and constantan used in strain gauges and thermocouples for temperature measurement. Copper is one of the few metals that occur in nature in directly usable metallic form as opposed to needing extraction from an ore.

As this material directly came from the foundry, due to it’s hot surface, the sand stuck to the surface of the material. Copper gets black due to some climatic factors or because of some other factors. As this material directly came out of the foundry the surface was not uniform.

So to overcome this negative impacts on copper, Abrasive Blasting(Glass Bead Blasting) is a must.

Requirement –

1) To clean and make the surface sand free

2) To clean the blackish surface

3) To create uniformity on surface

Corrective Measures

Abrasive Blasting(Glass Bead Blasting) is a safe & effective process on copper to remove the sand, completely clean the blackish surface and create a uniform surface.

Result

After Abrasive Blasting(Glass Bead Blasting) process the sand has been completely removed, the blackish surface has got completely cleaned and creation of uniform surface has been done.
